Eastern Avenue Apartments

Teens can participate plus volunteer to satisfy their required 36 state community service hours. Parents of younger children (ages 2-6) must accompany their children at camp. By doing so, they gain valuable work experience that can be reported on a resume. The goal is to provide educational and fun activities – and real quality time – for low-income families.

Each year from June to August, young residents at Eastern Avenue Apartments in Seat Pleasant, Maryland enjoy arts and crafts, life skills classes, recreational activities and afternoon meals together at Eastern Avenue Day Camp. More than just a day camp, this free program is an integrated action plan for at-risk families. The lessons learned form the foundation for further growth.

Managed by Volunteers of America Chesapeake since 1985, Eastern Avenue Apartments offers refuge to Baltimore residents who are on their way to self-sufficiency. An 88-unit permanent housing community for low-income families who qualify for Section 8 rental assistance, the program also offers remedial education, vocational training, crises intervention and financial investment classes and business management training. These components, coupled with a strong community atmosphere, offer real solutions to help individuals gain employment and stabilize household income to increase independence.
