Baker House

Resting in a serene beach setting, Baker House is a cozy home for 12 adults with intellectual disabilities who have formed a tight-knit, loving family. In this Medicaid-funded supportive housing program, residents partner with Volunteers of America Chesapeake staff members to develop individual service plans and participate in life skills training and human growth and development classes geared toward individual skill levels and development potential. Some residents attend day programs; many are employed.

Baker House is a branch of Virginia Beach Mental Retardation Services that operates in coordination with the City of Virginia Beach Community Services Board, a group that also provides case management services for the facility.
